Description
A rare and impressive work by artist Silas Seandel, executed in 1983. Dining table comprised of a biomorphic sculptural brass base with a custom-made amoeba-shaped glass top. The base is a unique free-form sculpture from Seandel’s “Tree Trunk” series, frequently featured in the work of design titan Pierre Yovanovitch. In fine original condition, with areas of wear to the nicely patinated base, consistent with age and use. Signed and dated. The base itself measures approximately 36″ x 33″ x 28″H. The glass top has a roughly 60″ diameter. As is typical of Silas Seandel’s work, the base rests on small metal lifts that give the impression that the table is floating slightly above the ground. It’s difficult to fully capture in photographs the level of craftsmanship apparent in this sculpture–the natural undulations in the brass are truly extraordinary.
