Elephants are considered to be good luck, especially if the nose is up (in Western culture). This piece comes from an interesting background. In 1950’s a Roman company, Vivai del Sol, was established by three brothers whose Southern Italian roots were influenced by Mediterranean living. Originally a landscape company they began to design gardens and terraces for Roman palazzos, then NYC and wealthy Arab Emirates. They blended Baroque elements with Mediterranean folk cultures using columns, flowers and mythical elements. The rattan wicker elephant side table with tray was born.
